Kindergarten Curriculum for 5 and 6-year-olds

See Our Gallery of Pictures

Our kindergarten curriculum is a rich, diverse and in-depth learning program with a focus on culture, language, math, science and art. The morning program is Mandarin-immersion, with English instruction taking place in the afternoons.

Montessori classrooms are designed to be individualized learning environments. Because we have a very small group of kindergarteners in our school, there is even more individualized attention. All of the following lessons are available to the children in the classroom as individual/group work. Lessons will be presented when a child has shown interest or reached the level required. Children love to learn through observing each other’s work. This is why a multi-age classroom is especially beneficial to children who can effortlessly learn through absorbing what they see and hear in their environment.

Outings will take place monthly, so children can take advantage of the diverse array of cultural, artistic and natural sites in NYC. Planting seeds, gardening, preparing seasonal food harvested from the garden or bought at local markets, taking care of the aquarium and watching caterpillars turn into butterflies are just a few of the fun, tactile part of our curriculum.

We are constantly creating real-life, hands-on experiences to stimulate the children’s senses and nurture the whole child, as we believe this is the best way to stimulate the brain and help children develop and grow in the best way possible.
